Acrylic Painting: Arabian Horse
This acrylic painting was so much fun to do! Of course, as some of you may know, I’m partial to painting and drawing things that are alive (especially if they have eyeballs) but to capture the beauty, elegance and power of horses, ……well, it’s just a treat. Prints of this acrylic painting, on either paper or canvas, are available at http://www.fineartamerica.com/profiles/suzanne-schaefer.html
Acrylic Painting/The Little Rooster Barnyard Brat
Here’s an acrylic painting of Mr. Hotshot, the barnyard brat of a rooster. Cute as all get out, and… as chickens go, one pushy little devil. I snapped a photo of him one day while he was struttin’ his stuff for all the girls. My intention was to capture that big attitude of his.
Gouache (opaque watercolor) Painting: In Honor of the Cutest Dog Ever
This is a gouache (opaque watercolor) painting of Keebler Alf, my dog. He died on Friday at the age of 18, and I miss him. I’m posting this painting in his honor.
Acrylic Equine Portrait Painting: Windbreaker
Here’s a commissioned acrylic portrait painting of this incredible stallion, Windbreaker. The day I went with camera in hand to take a series of photos of him, he seemed to instinctively know he was a star, almost as if he was striking various “poses” for me.
Gouache Painting: Along the Ocean’s Edge/A Day at the Beach
Here’s a gouache painting that needs no explanation! Can you hear the seagulls or the ocean? I hope so. I do love the beach.
Acrylic Painting: Framed Northwest Indian Art/Bear Totem
I have some of the best neighbors on the planet, and one of them is crazy about Northwest Indian art, so I did some research on the subject and came up with this little 4 x 6 inch acrylic painting for her. The bear itself is varnished with gloss varnish, the background is a matt finish. The frame was painted with special paint that has mica flecks in it and has a reflective quality to it. Don’t know if you can see all that clearly in the photograph or not. I’d be happy to make one for you too! Just contact me (artsesue@hotmail.com) and let me know what you’d like. Great original gift idea at not a huge cost!
Acrylic Painting: Butterfly Collage
I call this 8 x 10 acrylic painting a “collage“, but that’s only because I don’t know what else to call it. It’s a very simple, understated design that I like, although my daughter said “Mom, nobody is into butterflies anymore!” Hmmm… maybe she’s right, but it doesn’t matter. I still like it.
Acrylic Painting: Abstract in Blues
Well…..this one turned out far better than I ever dreamed it would! Yes, it is acrylic paint, and yes, it’s an abstract painting in blue, but honestly, it was mostly an experiment! HA. I love it when experimental pieces actually turn out better than you imagined at the beginning of the process. I like this one so much I don’t think I’ll even try to market it. I’d love some feed-back from others on this one! (One can’t necessarily be objective about one’s own work, you know?) Hopefully, I’ll get some critiques.
Acrylic Painting of a Little Mountain Waterfall
Here is an acrylic painting I did of a little mountain waterfall we came across while hiking. My goal was to capture the incredible “sparkly-ness” of the water, as in the fine mist along the large boulder.
